Riding on the Wings of a Concept
“There have been many teachings, by the various saints, sages and realizers throughout the ages, who have appeared and disappeared.
There have been so many saints, sages and guru's and each has been enamored by a particular concept that he wanted the world to know about. Ultimately the different teachings were individual concepts, which supported the individual concepts which appealed to the consciousness on a particular individual at a particular time. One who has understood ones mystery as to what is, that one will not discuss or argue the largeness or smallness of anybody.
The feeling of having understood and relief gained from suffering that gets associated with a Guru or teaching, is likely to lead one into the sense of illusion, because the individual thinks he has found something to hold onto and enthusiastically import to others. It is a first step, but it is very easy to get totally lost when juggling words and concepts by attaching too much importance to them. People have many questions and they think, after a while, they know something, but when they finally know, there will be no questions to ask and the realization will occur that everything is happening on its own and therefore there is no more concern for it“. ~ Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
"My advice to you is not to undertake the spiritual path. It is too difficult, too long, and it is too demanding. What I would suggest, if you haven't already begun, is to go to the door, ask for your money back, and go home now, this is not a picnic. It is really going to ask everything of you and you should understand that from the beginning. So it is best not to begin. However, if you do begin, it is best to finish." ~ Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche

Dialogues with a Realized Master

PRIOR TO CONSCIOUSNESS
Talks with Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. The central core of Maharaj's teaching is; Until man can free himself from false identifications, from pretentions and delusions of various kinds, he cannot come face to face with the eternal verity that is latent within his own self. "What the mind invents, the mind destroys. But the real is not invented and cannot be destroyed ... "

I AM THAT
Talks with Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
The only Book on Spirituality you will ever “need”. Nisargadatta changed my life. He cuts through to the chase and ends it.
Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj and his Teachings
The Nisarga Yoga, the ‘natural’ Yoga of Maharaj, is disconcertingly simple - the mind, which is all-becoming, must recognize and penetrate its own being, not as being this or that, here or there, then or now, but just as timeless being.
According to Sri Nisargadatta the purpose of spirituality is to know who you are. His style is abrupt, provocative, and immensely profound, cutting to the core and wasting little effort on inessentials. His terse but potent sayings are known for their ability to trigger shifts in consciousness, just by hearing, or even reading them.
Word Games
Excerpts from the final talks of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
You are very adept at word-games. While I am talking about knowledge that is beyond this phenomenal world, you are trying to understand through worldly concepts and words. Give up all concepts and inquire into the nature of your being-ness. How did you happen to be? Ponder it! The real blessing of the Guru comes when knowledge itself sprouts inside you. The riddle of spirituality cannot be solved by your intellect. At the most, your intellect can provide you with a livelihood.
The "I AM" is absent only in the state of samadhi, when the self emerges into the Self, otherwise, it will not be there. In the state of the Realized person the "I AM" is there; he just doesn't give much importance to it. A realized being is not guided by a concept. Understanding is not a matter of time. If you really perceive the Truth, it is simple and quickly grasped.
You will not inquire into what you are. Because you are intellectuals, you will prepare so many delicacies out of your intellect and you will go on eating that. Even in spirituality you employ your intellect, you prepare so many delicacies out of your concepts and you relish them. Even the sense of having understood is likely to lead one into the sense of illusion, because the individual thinking he has found something to impart to others, but there is no individual. It is so easy to get totally lost when juggling words, by attaching too much importance to them. This knowledge is not found in books, It is not intellectual knowledge. Worshipping books and being devoted to books will lead you no where. Be your Self. Be devoted to your Self. worship only that. Worship the knowledge "I AM" as a God, as your Guru.
Take a hint from what I have said. That you experience the world at all is the result of somebody's fun; now it has become the source of misery. Whatever you are prior to the appearance of "I AM", that is your true nature. Consciousness is not male or female. It is like light. Light also means heat. When the temperature goes down, the doctor will say that the patient is no more.
People come here because they feel there is a need to come. The consciousness in your body feels pleasure in coming here. So long as consciousness feels the need of anything, you will be compelled to do it. When consciousness leaves, there will be no more bondage. Pure happiness can only be there when consciousness is not there. Any image you have of yourself is not true. Both experience and experiencer will disappear. I will not elaborate further.
